The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended the Flood Advisory for the Island of MAUI now in effect until 6:45 p.m. This Advisory may need to be extended beyond 6:45 p.m. if heavy rain persists.
A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect for Maui County through Tuesday afternoon.
EFFECTS: At 3:32 p.m. HST, radar showed heavy showers continuing to fall along the southeast slopes of Haleakala, especially over and upslope of Hana.
This advisory includes the entire Island of Maui.
PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES: STAY AWAY FROM STREAMS, DRAINAGE DITCHES AND LOW LYING AREAS PRONE TO FLOODING. RAINFALL AND RUNOFF WILL ALSO CAUSE HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS DUE TO PONDING, REDUCED VISIBILITY AND POOR BRAKING ACTION. DO NOT CROSS FAST FLOWING OR RISING WATER IN YOUR VEHICLE OR ON FOOT. TURN AROUND…DON’T DROWN.
