Two out of three of Maui Electric Company’s Ma’alaea generating units tripped offline at 1:37 p.m. today. Following are the latest updates as workers continue to address the problem:

5:40 PM

As of 5:00 PM, all customers have been restored.  A malfunction on the controls of two large generating units at Maalaea Power Plant caused the units to trip offline resulting in the load shed and subsequent loss of power earlier today.
