The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended the HIGH SURF ADVISORY for EAST FACING SHORES of MAUI and MOLOKAI, in effect until 6:00 p.m. this evening.
A High Surf Advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in the advisory area, producing rip currents and localized beach erosion.
EFFECTS: A long fetch of strong trade winds will keep surf high on east facing shores a while longer with rough waves of 8 to 10 feet through this evening.
Forecast surf heights are estimates of the height of the face or front of waves.
A high tide of approximately 2.0 feet is expected between 3:31 p.m. and 4:49 p.m. this afternoon. The next high tide of approximately 2.2 feet is expected between 3:38 a.m. and 4:56 a.m. tomorrow morning.
PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES: BEACH GOERS ARE URGED TO STAY OUT OF THE WATER AND WELL AWAY FROM THE SHORE BREAK DUE TO THE HAZARDOUS WAVE ACTION AND STRONG RIP CURRENTS.
