The National Weather Service in Honolulu has continued the Red Flag Warning for LEEWARD SECTIONS of MAUI COUNTY, in effect until 6:00 p.m. this evening.
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures will create rapid fire growth potential. A Red Flag Warning does not predict new fire starts.
EFFECTS: Strong trade winds and low humidity will continue the threat of critical fire weather conditions through Monday afternoon. Conditions include: Northeast winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph, relative humidity as low as 44 percent and temperatures in the low to mid 80s.
INFORMATION: Maui County Civil Defense will continue to monitor the situation. Please listen to your local radio and TV stations or NOAA weather radio broadcasts for any updates.
