A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures will create rapid fire growth potential. A Red Flag Warning does not predict new fire starts.
EFFECTS: Trade winds will strengthen and the weather will dry as high pressure builds north of the Islands, permitting critical fire weather conditions today. Conditions include: Northeast winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph, relative humidity as low as 45 percent and temperatures in the 80s.
INFORMATION: Maui County Civil Defense will continue to monitor the situation. Please listen to your local radio and TV stations or NOAA weather radio broadcasts for any updates.
