The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a Fire Weather Watch for leeward sections of ALL ISLANDS, in effect from SUNDAY MORNING until SUNDAY AFTERNOON.
A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible. A Fire Weather Watch does not predict new fire starts. Listen for later forecasts and possible Red Flag Warnings.
EFFECTS: Trade winds will strengthen and the weather will remain dry as high pressure builds north of the Islands. This could lead to critical fire weather conditions Sunday. Conditions include: Northeast winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph, relative humidity as low as 45 percent and temperatures in the low 80s.
INFORMATION: Maui County Civil Defense will continue to monitor the situation. Please listen to your local radio and TV stations or NOAA weather radio broadcasts for any updates.
