A motorcycle accident with critical injuries has closed the northbound lane of Honoapi’ilani Highway between Ka’anapali Parkway and the bridge. Maui Police say the accident has forced the clousure of northbound lanes of the highway.

Northbound traffic is currently using the southbound lane. Southbound traffic is be rerouted from Keka’a Drive to Ka’anapali Parkway, then back to the highway. No word yet on the cause of the accident, nor is there an estimate of when the road will reopen in both directions.

NOTE: The scene was cleared and the road reopened to traffic in both directions at 6:50 p.m.
