The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a HIGH SURF ADVISORY for NORTH FACING SHORES of MAUI and MOLOKAI in effect from 6:00 a.m. Wednesday until 6:00 a.m. Thursday.
A High Surf Advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in the advisory area, producing rip currents and localized beach erosion.
EFFECTS: Expect surf of 10 to 16 feet along north facing shores of Maui and Molokai.
Surf will rise tonight and continue through early Thursday morning.
Forecast surf heights are estimates of the height of the face or front of waves.
A high tide of approximately 2.9 feet is expected between 4:07 a.m. and 5:25 a.m. tomorrow morning. The next high tide of approximately 1.5 feet is expected between 3:34 p.m. and 4:52 p.m. tomorrow afternoon.
PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES: BEACH GOERS ARE URGED TO STAY OUT OF THE WATER AND WELL AWAY FROM THE SHORE BREAK DUE TO THE HAZARDOUS WAVE ACTION AND STRONG RIP CURRENTS.
