WAILUKU — The state Department of Transportation advises Maui residents of an expected increase in aircraft traffic over the Wailuku and Kahului areas due to airfield maintenance work at Kahului Airport.

Runway 2/20 will be closed on Sunday morning, December 11, from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m., for routine maintenance. The work is being done in the early morning hours to minimize disruption to airport services. During these times, the flight patterns for arriving and departing cargo flights will be modified resulting in an increased in air traffic over Wailuku and Kahului.
