Mick Fleetwood Will Wash Your Car This Saturday – for Japan Relief

WAILUKU – Mick Fleetwood, legendary drummer and co-founding member of the iconic band, Fleetwood Mac, will show up with a bucket and a bar of soap to help earn money for American Red Cross Hawaii Chapter Japan relief efforts at Ho’ole’a Terrace at Kehalani’s “Aloha for Japan Celebrity Carwash”, this Saturday in Wailuku.

It could turn out to be one of those “I’ll never wash my car again because last time it was washed by Mick Fleetwood!” But wait, the list of other celebrity car washers is also world class – including Henry Kapono, Marty Dread, The Hula Honeys and many othewrs. The list appears below.

Ho’ole’a Terrace at Kehalani will donate 100 percent of proceeds from its “Aloha For Japan Celebrity Carwash” to American Red Cross to support those affected by last month’s devastating earthquake and tsunami.

The benefit carwash will take place on Saturday, April 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Ho’ole’a Terrace in Wailuku and will feature local business and community leaders, entertainers and youth groups who will wash cars to support Aloha for Japan efforts.
The carwash will be by donation only. The first 25 people to donate $25 or more will receive a free official “Aloha for Japan” t-shirt.

Featured entertainment includes Hawaii’s Reggae Ambassador Marty Dread, with a special performance of his hit, #1 on XM Children’s Radio, song “Mouse In The House”, just for the keiki at 11:30am. Maui Rents & Sales, Sounds Good Audio and Keiki Corner have donated their time and services to help provide entertainment and food, free to the public. The event will also include prize drawings and giveaways.

Maui resident, Mick Fleetwood has become a valuable member of our community by contributing selflessly of his time and resources to numerous local causes including being on the advisory board of Maui Memorial Medical Center. He also dedicates time and resources to national causes including the ALS Project, AIDS Foundation, the Maui Heartwalk and more. Said Fleetwood, “I just got back from the big fundraiser in Waikiki where some 29 artists performed to help raise 1.6 million for the Japan relief. I’m equally supportive of programs like this carwash right in my own community because I believe that if every community came together and did programs such as this, the total effect could be so beneficial.”

In addition to his renowned music career he has had success with an acting career and has also co-written two books, including the NY Times Best Seller, My Life and Adventures in Fleetwood Mac. In addition to these other projects Mick manages his own wine enterprise, Mick Fleetwood Private Cellar. Mick is planning the opening of a major restaurant and wine tasting establishment at the previous location of the Lahaina Store and Oyster Bar (formerly Planet Hollywood) to be called Fleetwood’s on Front St. Charity is a main goal for the establishment which plans to feature Hawaiian culture blended with a Colonial style, said a spokesperson.
