Julie Yoneyama is better known to her viewers, fans and friends as Julie Y. Julie Y is a pioneer member of the Maui TV News 'ohana. After serving as Coming Attractions reporter for four months, Julie moved into the co-anchor position in September, 2007. In her "day job," Julie serves as Director of Community and Employee Relations for Hoaloha Na Eha dba Old Lahaina Luau/Aloha Mixed Plate/Hoaloha Productions.

This position was created for her to meet the needs of Hoaloha Ne Eha to perpetuate a positive presence in the community and to encourage their employees to contribute and give back to where they make their home. Also serving as the media contact for her company, Julie has appeared in or been interviewed for several network television shows on the Travel Channel, Food Network and Country Music TV. Julie has also written, directed and hosted productions for Hoaloha Na Eha since 1997. She even finds time to serve as an MC and dancer for Old Lahaina Luau.

While her background as a performer and producer dates back two decades, Julie's passion is equally shared with the time she spends on her surfboard and in her kitchen. "In my spare time (what spare time?) I love to surf, hike, read and cook! I learned to surf couple years ago and can’t get enough!! Want to surf a new spot every month, but love my regular spot at Launiupoko. I also feel the need to play matchmaker and have an unofficial dating service called CoCo’s Connections. On the weekends you can often find me in O'ahu spending time with family and friends. Cooking is a passion—and is very therapeutic for me—I have the need to feed. I would love my own cooking show."

(Editor's Note: At the time of this posting, Maui TV News officials had not yet announced plans to add a cooking show to the weekly lineup.)
